Mornings are a bit of a whirlwind in our house when I try to workout in the mornings and make sure everyone gets a good breakfast before we walk to school. I like to take the pressure off by making big batches of pancakes when I have time.

We also will make up a big batch of homemade buttermilk syrup or apple syrup to serve alongside the pancakes. Both of these keep well in the fridge in a mason jar.

If you are more of a fruit compote fan try making this super easy homemade strawberry sauce that can be made with frozen or fresh fruit.

Can you freeze homemade pancakes?

Yes you can! I love to make breakfast foods up en masse on the weekends and freeze them so it’s one less thing to worry about in the mornings.

Pancakes will keep well in the freezer for up to 2 months.

How to freeze pancakes?

The best way to freeze pancakes is to lay them out on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Then place the frozen pancakes in a ziploc bag.

Alternative method:

I freeze my pancakes in stacks with a square of waxed paper cut to be about the same size as the pancake in between and then place them in a freezer Ziploc bag. They are generally pretty easy to pull apart and negate the need to freeze them on cookie sheets before stacking which I do not have the room for.

To eliminate the waste I throw those squares into a ziploc bag and keep them in the freezer for the next time I make pancakes.
