Easy Blender Salsa (Restaurant Style)

Blender salsa is the easiest restaurant style salsa you’ll ever make! Ready in less than 5 minutes, this is perfect for serving alongside chips and guacamole or for topping your favorite burrito.

I get rave reviews every time I make this. Despite the simple ingredients there’s something really good about this salsa. It’s so easy to make and it makes a lot in a small amount of time so it’s perfect for a party.

I like to keep all the ingredients on hand so I can make it whenever we want it. We like to serve it with our favorite cheesy egg breakfast casserole or when we make El Pollo Loco Knock Off Chicken.

A bowl of salsa next to a lemon cilantro and jalapeno

Ingredients

Shopping list:

  • jalapeño
  • cilantro
  • green onion
  • garlic

Pantry staples:

  • canned green chilis
  • salt
  • pepper
  • lemon juice
  • diced tomatoes

My favorite diced tomatoes to use are the fire roasted tomatoes. They give the salsa a little more depth that just regular diced tomatoes would give.

If you do not have any fresh lemons or fresh limes, go ahead and substitute bottled lemon or lime juice.

Top Tips

Add all ingredients to your blender or food processor and blend for about 15-20 seconds. You can process it as much or as little as you want. If you want a chunkier style pulse and do not blend.

For spicier salsa, add additional jalapeños or substitute habanero or serrano peppers for the jalapeño. If you are still looking for something spicier see this breakdown of peppers and their heat indexes.

How long will homemade salsa last?

This recipe will fill a quart size mason jar with about 1 cup of salsa leftover. If you eat that cup of salsa no one will be the wiser and I certainly won’t tell.

This salsa will keep for 3-4 days, so you can make it the night before if you are making this for any kind of get together.

Top tips for cooking with kids

This is an exceptionally easy recipe to make with kids and children love being able to use appliances like blenders. If your children are sensitive to the loud noise of a blender consider giving them ear muffs or over the ear headphones which can help cancel out the noise.

The only ingredient that you need to be careful with is the jalapeños. Once you touch the interior of a jalapeño, if you touch your face before washing your hands the juices can cause intense burning.

Consider chopping those yourself or providing disposable gloves for your children to use while cutting. If you do not have any disposable gloves you can try using a plastic bag over the hand holding the peppers instead.
