A few weeks ago we did Family Home Evening with some friends and I said I would bring a dessert. Don’t know what Family Home Evening is, or commonly known in our church as FHE? Our church leaders have counseled us to set aside one night a week to have FHE. It is a time to connect as a family and an opportunity to teach our children. Sometimes it is spiritual in nature, sometimes we have a fun game night or movie night, and other times it’s having a fun night with friends. Our kids love FHE and remind us every week that we need to do it. With my husband’s ever changing schedule we can’t always do it on the same night be we have found our family is so much happier when we make the time to have it.

Anyways, I wanted to make some brownies but I ended up running out of time because we had played for way too long that day. I needed something quick and easy. And was scavenging around in our cupboard for something to make. I found some Oreo’s and pudding and figured I could do something tasty with that.

So I threw some Oreo cookies in a pan and topped them with chocolate pudding and whipped cream and crushed Oreo cookies for extra texture. Then I stuck it in the fridge for a little bit while we ate a quick dinner and headed over. I wasn’t sure how it was all going to turn out but was figuring it would at least taste good. Oh man! It was awesome! The cookies had softened to that I’ve sat in milk for a little bit texture where they are a little soft, a little crunchy, but not falling to pieces.

I liked using the mint Oreo’s but you could totally use whatever flavor you would like. If you don’t like chocolate you could go with the golden Oreo’s with vanilla pudding! Shoot with all the crazy flavors of Oreo’s available right now and many different flavors of pudding you really could go crazy. You could even make this in individual cups for a party that would be super cute!

  1. I cook for my son, his wife and two boys every Sunday. They have requested this dessert every week since the first time I made it, five weeks ago. I have yet to taste it–they eat it all. Time to make a double batch. Never have I had such a reaction to a recipe and never have I made something so simple.

Thank you so very much for sharing it.

    1. Wow, Pat! That has to be the nicest review anyone has ever left! Thank you for taking the time to comment and it does sound like it’s time to make a double, or maybe triple, batch so you can have some too!
