Honey Lime Fruit Salad

Fruit tossed with honey, lime, and mint for a honey lime fruit salad makes for a fancy easy side dish that is easily customizable based on fruits in season!

My skeptical picky eater kept grumbling about the leafy greens on the fruit but gobbled it up quite happily when she tried a bite. Even my fruit salad despising husband had seconds!

Summertime is my favorite time of year when the evenings are still light-filled and the weather is perfect. We’ve also found it a great way to make our dinner time something special. With my husband’s wonky schedule we have tried our best to make the one meal a day we are usually together a family event.

We’ve found that dinner is super special to the kids when we move it onto the floor or outside. We don’t even have to go somewhere special outside, just eating out on the lawn is special enough.

Have the kids help you make the food! This dish is a perfect one to get the kids involved with. They can pick the grapes off the stems and cut up the strawberries. It may not look as pretty but it will still taste the same.

What fruit works for honey lime fruit salad:

Use fruits that your family (especially the kids) love and think about the rainbow! Some of my kids favorites are:

  • Grapes
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Blackberries
  • Watermelon
  • Kiwis
  • Cantaloupe or honeydew
  • Pineapple
  • Apples (they may start to turn brown but the lime in the dressing should reduce that)

Bananas might not be the best for this fruit salad if it will be sitting out for a while because of the oxidation of the bananas. They will begin to turn brown and can turn mushy.

Oranges could also work for this but I would choose mandarin oranges over navel oranges because they are easier to portion out into the salad. If you don’t want to peel a bunch of mandarin oranges look for mandarin orange segments in fruit juice in the canned fruit section.
