One of the recipes that is a must around the holidays is my mother-in-laws wassail. It was a recipe my husband wanted to make sure that I had in my collection. Growing up we didn’t have many special drinks so I didn’t get what all the hype was. That first Christmas with the in-laws I got my first taste of wassail and was hooked!

Ever since then I’ve realized how much I love warm drinks especially in the cool fall and winter weather. So now I like to dream up different variations and make them for all of our various gatherings with family and friends.

These holidays have been a little crazier than previous years. I’ve found that the anticipation of so many expectations have worn on them a bit. Not only are they eagerly anticipating Christmas but they are just as excited to welcome their new baby brother. Both my husband and I have been trying to take care of wrapping presents, prepping for the baby, as well as participating in all of the holiday activities that are fun but can feel overwhelming.

Minute Maid has a #doingood campaign out right now to remind parents of all the big and small things they do to make a wonderful positive difference in their children’s lives. They are doing this by celebrating the perfect imperfection for us moms and dads everywhere who really are doing much better than we think. I know I am usually my own worst critic feeling like i haven’t done enough with and for my family but I just need to remember that being with them is good enough. Minute Maid is also encouraging us to remind another parent they are “doing good” this holiday season- I love this easy act of kindness, we all need an uplifting word sometimes.
