Roll out the cookie dough to create a rectangle about 11 by 13 inches in size.
Cut out an Easter egg shape on a cutting board using a paring knife or a pastry roller.
Transfer the cut out cookie to an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until a light golden brown on the edges. Allow to cool completely.
Frost the entire cookie as close to the edge as possible. Cover the cookie with M&Ms using whatever pattern you would like.
You can create a template to cut out the egg by taping two pieces of paper together and drawing your shape before cutting it out of the paper. Then lay the paper on your cookie dough and trace around it with your knife. My cut out egg was approximately 10" wide by 12" tall.Transferring the cookie will be easiest by placing the cookie sheet over the cookie and flipping over the cutting board so the cookie sheet is on the bottom.
