Celebrate the 4th of July with these Patriotic Rice Krispie Treats! They are an easy no bake dessert perfect for summer and decorated with white chocolate and red white and blue sprinkles.
Add the marshmallows and stir frequently until marshmallows are completely melted.
Remove pot from heat and add the rice krispies, mixing well to make sure they are all coated.
Pour mixture onto a greased cookie sheet.
Use waxed paper to press down the mixture evenly into the pan.
Next, use your star cookie cutter to cut out star shapes from the rice krispies.
Heat white chocolate melts according to package directions and drizzle over each star.
Decorate with red white and blue sprinkles.
Best if eaten on the same day!
Notes
Alternative method
Instead of cutting out stars and decorating them individually, you can press the mixture into a 9 by 13 casserole dish.
Heat white chocolate melts and drizzle over the entire pan.
Decorate with red white and blue sprinkles.
Cut into bars and enjoy!
This option is obviously much simpler and has less waste. If you are short on time, I would go with this option.Although you can use any size of marshmallows for rice krispie treats. I've found the mini marshmallows tend to melt faster than the original size. If you are pressed for time, opt for the small ones. You just want the marshmallows to melt, you do not want to overcook the mixture. This can result in a really dry rice krispie treat and nobody wants that!
