I don’t know about you but my kids beg all summer for jello. That jiggly little dessert just seems to make them happy which is why they love rainbow jello.

This layered jello is a bit simpler than the rainbow jello but is still a lot of fun for the holidays and can be done with lots of different colors to suit whatever the holidays is.

Think red and green for Christmas or orange and yellow for Halloween or Thanksgiving. Really, there are so many possibilities considering how many flavors and colors of jello there are!

ingredients needed to make this jello

Ingredients you need:

  • Strawberry jello
  • Sliced frozen strawberries
  • Ice
  • Cream cheese
  • Crushed pineapple
  • Berry blue jello
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Whipped cream

You can substitute raspberry jello and frozen raspberries or cherry jello and frozen cherries for the strawberries.

If you would like to make this without the fruit in the jello, follow the directions on the package to make each layer.

How To Make Red White and Blue Jello:

  6. Refrigerate the whole thing at least 2 hours before serving.
  7. If desired, turn out the jello onto a platter and slice the jello into squares and top with whipped cream.

Tips and Tricks

How long will layered jello keep for?

Once the layers are set, keep the jello covered with plastic wrap or a lid. Then the jello will keep for 5 – 7 days.

Does jello need to stay in the refrigerator?

This jello is not suitable for outdoor parties. It’s best if this is brought out right before serving and then kept in the fridge once you are done dishing it up to everyone.

As it heats up, the layers will begin to separate and the jello will begin to lose it’s water and become leaky. You’ve been given fair warning!

Can jello be frozen?

This jello CANNOT be frozen! Please do not try to freeze it! When frozen jello thaws it separates and is a mess. Just don’t do it!
