Smoothies are fun way to sneak in veggies and fruit and the mint in this smoothie does a good job of covering up the taste of other ingredients.

Chocolate and mint are always popular flavors with my kids because it reminds them of their favorite Peppermint Frogs from Harry Potter world and the BYU Mint Brownies that we love so much.

Smoothies, like this easy chocolate yogurt fruit dip, are just a much healthier version of those which is always good to have!

  • fresh mint leaves
  • cocoa powder

Optional additions:

  • ice

You can use any variety of milk you like. I used Vanilla Almond Milk but coconut milk would also work.

How to make this:

  1. Simply place all the ingredients in a blender and pulse until you have a smooth texture.
  2. ENJOY!

Top Tips

If you want a thicker smoothie, use a frozen banana instead of a fresh one.

For a creamier smoothie, add vanilla yogurt and/ or 2 Tbsp chia seeds before blending. You could also add avocado to it but we didn’t do that because I’m allergic- wha wha.

Top Tips for cooking with kids

Making smoothies is like making magic or a simple science experiment. Talk about the process or have them hypothesize what is happening. You can also talk about how a blender works.

  • Have them identify the blades and motor.
  • Have them preform a pre-blend checklist: all “dry” ingredients in, liquids added, and lid on (possibly the most important part!)
  • Would the smoothie work without the liquid?
  • What do they think makes solid foods become liquid?
