Made in less than 10 minutes with just 4 ingredients, garlic soy edamame is a simple restaurant style appetizer you can make at home in no time.
We’ve had edamame like this at our local sushi restaurant and they are super addictive. It’s a great snack or appetizer before a meal like Instant Pot Chinese pork shoulder soup or Cantonese style Black Pepper Beef.
They are also wonderful to take along with DASANI® Sparkling on your next adventure. There are so many DASANI® Sparkling flavors to choose from, you can find one to pair with whatever adventure you are looking to take. I chose the lime flavor to pair with the garlic soy edamame.
I got my DASANI Sparkling at Ralph’s but you can get it at any Kroger Affiliate (find yours here). Look for it near the soda aisle- mine was on an end cap display. There were two different styles of packaging so be on the lookout for either one.
We’ve been going on lots of adventures to some of our old favorite places and discovering some new interesting places. This summer we went to both the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone national parks which were grand adventures.
Although I love those big trips I also enjoy sitting outside in my own backyard and taking an adventure with a good book. Some of our favorite trips to take are into stories like a good mystery novel or a fun fantasy novel like Harry Potter. But for us the most important part of an adventure is having some good snacks!

What is edamame?
Edamame is immature soy beans in a pod popular in Asian cuisine. The outer pod is not meant to be eaten, once cooked you pop out the beans inside and eat them. They are very easy to prepare and fun to eat.
You can find both edamame in its shells and shelled edamame in the freezer section of most grocery stores. Often, they are available in bags where you can steam the edamame inside the bag.
How to make garlic soy edamame?
Garlic soy edamame is very simple to make.
- Saute garlic in olive oil over medium heat.
- Add soy sauce and stir to combine well.
- Add cooked edamame to the mix.
- Toss to coat and serve immediately.
Some things to note about the garlic soy edamame:
The edamame gets it’s salt from the soy sauce. You could add up to 2 Tbsp of soy sauce if you want a really strong flavor. There is a lot of salt in soy sauce so I would not add any additional salt to the edamame.
The garlic only needs to be cooked for the 2 minutes. Because it is minced it will burn quickly so do not walk away from the pan. It should be a nice light golden color. Any darker and it will turn very bitter.
Yes, 8 cloves of garlic sounds like a lot but I promise it’s not overwhelming. You need a lot of garlic so that it can be tasted through the soy sauce.
