No Bake Guava Cheesecake Bars
Deliciously refreshing, these Hawaiian inspired no bake guava cheesecake bars taste like summer and are an easy dessert for a potluck or party! With the creamy guava filling on a macadamia nut crust they will be a surefire hit!
Guava is one of those fruits that has become synonymous with Hawai’i but isn’t native to Hawai’i. It was brought to the islands by the Christian missionaries in the 1800s. Guava comes from the region of Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
The same is true for the macadamia nuts as well. Those have made their way around the world from Australia. Fun fact, about 70% of the worlds macadamia nuts can trace their roots back to a single tree in Australia!
Still the flavor combo is one that will always make me think of Hawai’i.
Table of contents
I may be partial to the flavors of the islands but I sure do love these guava bars. They are a bit different than your usual pie flavors and they are really perfect for summer.
Although I made these as bars think of them more like a slab pie. If you wanted to make it as a pie you could totally make this in a pie tin. Or you could make them into mini cheesecakes topped with macadamia nuts which would be perfect for a party.
They would also be a good addition for the next time you are making Hawaiian plate lunches! Serve them along with Hawaiian style macaroni salad and Kalua pork or Sticky Pineapple Chicken for a fun well rounded meal. Watch Moana or Lilo and Stitch for a fun family night or date night in!
Ingredients you need
- graham crackers
- macadamia nuts
- butter
- cream cheese
- Hawaiian’s Own Guava Nectar concentrate
- sweetened condensed milk
- Cool whip or whipped cream
I used Hawaii’s Own juice concentrate for these (not a sponsored post I just happen to really like their juice) and they have quite a variety of flavors available although it may be hard to hunt them down.
The Paradise Punch flavor from Hawaii’s Own is a widely available flavor and also works well with this. Or you can find guava concentrate at some Asian markets or there are several different varieties available on Amazon.
Substitutes
- You can substitute any tropical frozen juice concentrate if you cannot find the guava nectar.
- Honestly, any juice concentrate would work for this so you could do a pink lemonade or orange cream pie by simply subbing out the juice concentrate.
- If you are allergic to or don’t like macadamia nuts feel free to leave them out.
- Substitute 3 cups homemade whipping cream for Cool Whip. To make homemade whipping cream, in a stand mixer beat 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form
How to make this
To make the crust:
- Using a food processor, crush graham crackers until very fine. Add macadamia nuts and process again till nuts are finely chopped.
- Add the melted butter to the crushed graham cracker mixture and process until it is completely combined.
- Press into a 9×13 pan and set aside.
To make no bake guava cheesecake:
- Beat cream cheese in large bowl until fluffy.
- Gradually beat in the sweetened condensed milk and guava nectar concentrate.
- Fold in whipped topping.
- Pour over crust. Chill 2 hours or until set.
Tips and Tricks
To really make this simple, I recommend using a food processor to make the pie crust because it does the best job of blending everything together.
If you don’t have a food processor, make sure to take the time to really chop the nuts finely so they blend well with the graham crackers.
I think these guava cheesecake bars would be perfect for dessert paired with a Hawaiian plate lunch of Kalua Pork and Macaroni Salad.
Another fun guava dessert to try are Guava Cream Cheese Cuban Pastries. Yum!
